Why Televangelist?
I was brought up in a home where religion was something you should and must have in this case Seventh Day Adventist. My parents and most of my extended family attended SDA church regularly. They all have strong but now varying beliefs of this Church. In my early teens I got Baptized in the SDA church and since then I have somewhat formed my own ideas just from reading the bible and experimenting with different churches. A lot of times I felt as though the people in these various churches were not trying to help me find my own standing, but somehow forcing their religions on me.I just felt uncomfortable and out of place everywhere I tried to seek worship. I've been told according to my own beliefs and upbringing I should stick with the Adventist. To make a long story short I have come to like most of these televangelist, they make it so easy for me.I dont have to dress up in my sunday best or wake up early in the morning nah none of that. I just grab a cold glass of Mbili mbili kama kawaida sorry I did'nt mean to say that I meant to say a cup of Hot tea, recline on the sofa and watch my favorite preacher on TV. Every Sunday I try to make a point of watching Pastor Joel Osteen whom I have come to like and have actually attended some of his services. I like the way the massage is presented and also the type of massage he shares. Not a single time do I fall asleep when this guy is preaching, he also has a lot of uplifting massages and the fact that he doesn't spend the entire sermon talking about the life history of Nebuchadnezzar or stuff like that. Sorry to bore you but if you have any input on this issue feel free _________________ Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds.' Einstein. biikabkutit.com

toto u need help.
religious topics are always tricky ... coz me think one way leo and kesho its another. BUt me too found myself ending up in the non-denomination churches and its where ive actually had (at some point) the closest relationship with God while mbeleni ilikuwa u go church and where the minister reads the prayer from a book. As in it was alittle too structured, prepared and restrictive.
Halafu always used to question the way u grow up in one church halafu when u get married into a different denomination u automatically drop kila kitu and become the other one .. like what happened to my previous beliefs? This to me made it more acceptable to leave the church i grew up in.
not to digress lakini what do u guyz think of televangelists... akina Muiru and them. Heee and can we forget the one from Uk- sikumbuki jina lakini the one who could pray for women and u somehow conceive?

I have come to appreciate the church back at home. The preachers, priests, pastors preach about contemporary issues, and only make a comparison to the bible times. That way, one feels like the preacher is directly talking to you and you can understand the word of the bible better coz u can apply it to your daily life. Here in Germany it is completely different! The preacher reads the bible, the old sacred rituals are strictly followed, you won't even here a cough from the brethren,if you have a baby and it starts crying everyone gives you a glaring look....the list is endless. It is a strained atmosphere when one sits here in church. No wonder the only people that go to church here are 60+(age).
That is the reason I wake up every Sunday morning and want to fly home even only to attend church!

For sure, sitting down at your house or home watching TV preachers and Sunday preachings on TV is great. Though the bible tells us where two or three gather in my name, I am in their midst. For sure it a wonderful thing to worship with brethren because you get to feel encouraged and to encourage others. You get to share in prayers and worshipping God together. I am not saying that its not good to watch the preachings on Sunday or any other day on the TV. Its great but I would encourage you to do more of attending service. I too love Joel Osten's preachings. Blessings!

| the only thing i have against televangelists is their insistence on organized religion above and beyond any individual and one's personal relationship with whoever they consider their God. History shows us that organized religion has done more harm than good by insuating that individual beliefs are irrelevant. I am not a specilist on this field but i will go with my gut feeling any time as opposed to believing what some big time televangelist is dictating that i got to believe.

| I get your point clearly. First I would like you to understand that the church is your soul, are you right with your God. Do you do according to the word of God. The denominations come in for spiritual nourishment. Am happy you have said that there is a pastor that really blesses you but remember it is good to have fellowship with others that is why we go to church so please as much as you would love to be in the house and watch him, its also good to go to his santuary physicaly and fellowship with others.

| Thanx Chemosi for your message. The issue of always going to church is for Fellowship where believers encourage one another so that we may all grow towards maturity. It is easy for us to backslide or stumble if we are alone. This is just but a simple statement, Hope it will help you. Choose the best church that teaches the true word of God and you will enjoy and Grow. Thank you.

I can see you have had quite a long experience in many churches and at least you have seen something and you should make a decission, i dont want to repeat what has been said here since its so important to have fellowship and those teleevangelists have their part also and you should not abandon church to watch never! should that happen.
Pray to God and he will lead you the right way.

Our pastor used to tell us that if a christian woman converts to islam due to marriage it was considered betrayal to God.that she have obviously shown that a fear of her husband is greater than her fear of God and since she has done thatshe has tried to fill a infinate hole with only a mortal marriage by forksaking Jesus .
but i was wondering.... does God have the capacity to feel betrayed by Humans?

| Specifically for Orgoyot. You have some "good" thoughts. But the truth lies within you! It is good you know some few things about Christianity. Romans 1:16-18 says that God has made everything bare that MAN may have no excuse. I am sorry to quote the Bible but I cannot compromise the TRUTH. So you and I have no excuse at all. Some things are difficult for our understanding because we are not angels nor supernatural beings. Deutronomy 29:29 says that whatever has been revealed to us is all that we know, but secrets belong to God. Again, I believe that God is JUST in that He cannot be unjust to them who died before the BIBLE arrived. Both "You" and the "SCIENCE" which you trust alot are manmade things and all will come to a standstill one time. A Joke "Whether God, or Heaven is there or Not Christians will have Lost Nothing because what are they loosing?" You need to think of Yourself and You future my friend. Do not judge things using the mind of "man". Ask God to help you. Sikutishi, lakini Nakuambia Neno jema la Yesu Kristo na Mungu wetu aliye hai. Johnny Cash said "How well i have learnt that there is no fence to sit on between Heaven and Hell. There is a deep, wide gulf, chasm and in that chasm is no place for any man." Decide Now! Trusting in Man made things and your own knowledge leads to destruction. God Bless You.
