for me honestly no... sadaka na pengine building fund here and there. Sometimes u just feel guilty though- esp when the pastor preaches and semaz how some ppl are busy asking for blessings and yet they are stealing from God every sunday walking out of here with his money in their pockets.

but for you guyz.. do you believe in giving 10% of all earnings - come rain or shine. ANd also give your thoughts on giving when sometimes it's seemingly going to the pastors pockets. MY roomate thinks u should give either way... coz to God he has received it halafu what the pastor does with the money is on him... it's going to be his beef with God.

your thoughts?

According to me I think tithing (giving 10% of your earnings)is very ok. I think what we should erase in our minds is that it goes to the pastors pocket. Let us understand that God did ot appoint anyone of us his/ her accountant so it doesnt matter what the pastor has done with the money. As long as you have done your part of giving period.

The bible says try me and see the great things I will do for you. How can try God unless through giving. Or what do you think? More so all this things are his but he only want to see if you can only give him 10% of that and remember it should not necessarily be money even your farm products or anything that you will be having at the end of the month.

Some churches now days are out to make a buck, good example here in the US there are some churches if you are not among the top "tithe givers" You will not get a seat on the front row of the church nor will you be elected to be one of the elders. You want to be an Usher, Pay up or stay back. You know those churches with "dorcas" women? Well, you will not be a Dorcas unless your tithes are at per or higher. Pay up or sit down and please don't come to church in all white because this is reserved for the tithe paying "dorcas" mathes. Rolling Eyes

Thanks alot for the such a wonderful question of tithe giving. For sure the earth and all that is in the earth belongs to God(Psalms 24:1).Us been included.Everything we have even our lives is owed to God of Heaven.

The blessings that God bestowes to us is meant to be used for His own glory.
Remember that out of all what God gives us he wants only 10% to bring to His storehouse for the meat to be found in house(Malachi 3:9-10).God does not require much.He wants only 10% and he wants us to test Him in this. When we remember how God has led us in the past,we need not to hesitate to give Him what belongs to Him. Many have tried and are receiving bountiful of blessings. Why don't we try. The Bible says that God blesses the cheerful giver. And its more blessed to give than to receive.
God bless you all.

Actually, tithing is an Old Testament concept. In the New Testament we're taught to give generously, not just 10%. So give generously. And I don't think it matters how often, as long as you do what the Holy Spirit inside you urges. Smile
2 Cor. 9: 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

that's why most folks around the country quit going to church........organized religion has gotten to be a cash cow for the so called church leaders and those who ride their coat tails...these guys drive around in luxury cars, live in million dollar homes, own other homes in expensive island resorts & take very expensive vacations sometimes with their mistresses all at the expense of the common faithful who give their 10%. what a bunch of hypocrites Evil or Very Mad

I am sure the problem is not as rampant in Kenya as it is stateside coz Kenyans still take religion seriously..........here, the church has been commercialized to a point where growth & success is determined by how much money is raked in every sunday which is fine only that more often than not, the money raised turns up in the private bank accounts of the pastor, his assistants, deacons & every one holding a senior leadership position

To be very frank.. i enjoy reading the bible very much.. only till some other person try to interpret it for me..., what i dont understand is why many preaches usually want to show that the old testament is reffered mostly to the israelist.. but love the tithe verse so much. Let my tithe go to the numerous children's homes around, let my tithe feed an hungry family, let my tithe buy a dress for an orphan, but my tithe will not buldge the pockets of individuals. Of course I believe God is in all those places mention, after all the tithe contract should be a contract between me and Him and should not be subjected to the church evaluation. Actually in some churches it almost amount to wealth declaration, they can even quote upto the last cent of how much you owe the church.
