Way back down the line.... I always remember my hey days in high school... the other day i aws recalling the way students classified themselves into classes.. there were those born tao and the df's, there were some clubs which were excusively reserved for who is who (drama club??????), there were games that not every tom, dick and harry, or jane, mary and sophie could juz play, there were the daughter's of so and so...

And i remeber some student's wasting themselves so hard to fit... of course in most of the time at the expense of education. My question? who instils in such young children the art of discrimination????

thanks for bringing that issue up cheptabkoret Very Happy ...coz it deserves a good debate.....k, this is what i happen to think, all kids, no matter what race or tribe, are born the same, equal before their own eyes till the adults start telling them they are better than their peers right about age five. Evil or Very Mad .....that's when prejudice is planted on these kids' minds and they grow up the rest of the way thinking that they are better human beings just coz their parents are richer, live in better neighborhoods, drive a bigger and/or better car, have a lighter skin, or are of a different race (see caucasians, latino then black), for those of us living in the states.....Having said that, I strongly suggest that we must fight prejudice by teaching our kids what Dr. Martin Luther King taught us that "INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE" and that the ideal world which we all should strive for is one where all human beings are judged on the basis of their character as opposed to the color of their skin..... Very Happy that's an ideal world i hope i will see in my lifetime....i WON'T HOLD HOLD MY BREATH THOUGH Wink .........it's that simple

here in kenya... children learn at an early age the wealth divide.. suprisingly i find the teachers abetting this crime, since most teachers usually favour children from the rich. During my hey days in school, it was at the worst of moi's tyranny rule... and we had parents who were so powerful, they could sack a teacher with a mere telephone call to state house.

interesting indeed cheptabkoret.....that's exactly one of many reasons why economic developments in Kenya have been few & far between and why our country scores ZERO in comparison to South Korea, Taiwan and even Malaysia though we all started on the same footing a half a century ago

Cheptabkoret, I got to give you kudos. You really hit the nail on the head on this one. What you just said right there is exactly what's going on in America.

what instils the art of discrimination in young children?.......i say it's CAPITALISM at it's worst where human beings are valued according to how much material things they have, how many assets they own and a world where it's pretty much survival for the fittest not unlike the life that we see wild animals pursuing in the jungle.......that dispensation in itself demeans human life as we know it and makes those of us raised in church realize why the bible says Jesus Christ was pretty much a communist/socialist....I guess the saying "one cannot have too much of a good thing" ISN'T TRUE after all, especially when it comes to the devastating effects of greed & unregulated CAPITALISM
