just wondering what the stats are and how biikabkutit compare to other communities. Personally can only think of one or two at most in the family who are diabetic, halafu u don't hear ppl on insulin na nini, so would i be right to say its not that much of a problem in our community? atleast not as yet, you thoughts?
Halafu, huko home do we have childhood diabetes? (ama whateva they call it- i know they had a name for it juzi kwa tv), coz here its a mess, kids so young on the needle and all that, eh!.

well, it's an epidemic in this country preA, especially among the kids.....then again, what can you expect when kids are raised on processed junk food, allowed to sit on the couch and watch TV 24/7 till their bodies turn to mush.........really sad to see 10 year olds weighing 180lbs & barely able to breath which you can never see back home coz kids eat whole organic foods and play & exercise every chance they get.....same goes for the adults here and until lifestyle changes are made, diabetes will probably be a problem for the foreseeable future in my opinion

Actually it has started to be a problem in our community and it is gaining momentum lately. Most of biikabkutit in the states who have their parents here visiting find this disease to be a dilemma.

Its as common as fast food restaurants right now...poor diets&ungoldy amounts of sugar! If u can find out in hospitals, even in eldy alone,:in the last 10years...theer's been a 50%increase..It used to be that only middle aged and elderly got it later on in life (talking only about the non genetic cases) but now with kids sucking down soda and eating on processed junk foods, as Altoo says, ALL THE TIME! Crying or Very sad

actually, according to the latest statistics, diabetes is now considered a 'clear, present & agonizing danger' to all caucasians, blacks, hispanics, american indians and pretty much anyone else living in the western world. Sad Sad thanks to processed foods
